Catalano House - Raleigh
Though it was destroyed in 2001, the Catalano House continues to be a landmark in architectural design in Raleigh. It has inspired many, including the Modern Home Network's logo. Built in 1954, the Catalano House was designed by Eduardo Catalano as his residence. It featured a hyperbolic parabaloid roof and glass walls.

Solterra - Durham
Solterra is a cohousing community in southwest Durham, blending environmentally friendly homes with a rich neighborhood life. 38 single-family homesites make up this community, on a total of 20 acres with shared rights in the common land. Each homesite was individually planned by its owner. The common areas include paths through woodlands and meadows, an organic garden, a tree house, picnic tables and swings.
